Hypnotherapy for Insomnia and Sleep Issues

Hypnotherapy can be a very effective way of improving sleep and helping with other sleep issues as well.

Despite the word sleep being associated very deeply with hypnosis when you’re hypnotised you aren’t actually asleep.

In fact it isn’t beneficial for clients to fall asleep during a hypnosis session as this would then mean that they can’t hear what I’m saying!

Hypnotherapy isn’t just helpful for getting people to get a good night’s sleep but it can also help people who suffer from recurring dreams, grinding their teeth in their sleep, bedwetting and other sleep disorders.

The goal with hypnosis sessions isn’t solely to put you to sleep, it is also to help you change your negative thoughts surrounding even going to sleep.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy for Sleep Disorders

Our thoughts, particularly when we pay attention to them, control exactly how we feel. So if we spend our day dreading bedtime, worrying about how much sleep we’ll get or wondering if we’ll have the nightmare again then we’ll not be making ourselves feel good nor will we give ourselves the best chances of getting a good sleep.

So aside from hypnosis sessions designed to relax the mind so that it can switch off and let us sleep we’ll also have conversations surrounding what goes on in our minds regarding sleep and maybe life as well.

We will correct any negative thoughts using cognitive behavioural therapy.

Bad sleep can come from anxiety and stress that is going on in our lives so it may end up that this is what becomes the focus of our sessions together.

Sleep hygiene

Beyond hypnosis and cognitive behavioural therapy there is also ensuring that you are following good sleep hygiene.

This is things like having a dark room of the right temperature, reducing noise, restricting alcohol and caffeine intake etc etc.

All things that you already know but maybe you aren’t doing as well as you could be. Hypnosis sessions can help you get into the habit of doing these things that you know would be of benefit.

Chris was great, he is very understanding and non-judgemental.

He really listened to get a whole picture of  my insomnia and provided advice and techniques to help with the issue.

That night I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in months!

I refer back to the techniques we discussed whenever I’m feeling restless and my mind is racing.
