Hypnotherapy for Anxiety and Panic Attacks

“Man is not worried by real

problems so much as by

his imagined anxieties

about real problems”

After years of anxiety and being pushed around I’m learning to set boundaries, control my work-life balance and I’m now doing things that I never dreamt were possible!

Hypnotherapy for Anxiety and Stress

Using hypnotherapy for anxiety has been proven time and again to be a very effective way to relieve the symptoms of anxiety.

The exact approach used will depend on your circumstances but at Dorchester Hypnotherapy I tend to use hypnosis combined with cognitive behavioural therapy

If you suffer with anxiety then you’re probably already acutely aware of how anxiety impacts you.

Anxiety can come in many forms:

Overthinking, catastrophising, all or nothing thinking, “mindreading”, thinking you know the future and other symptoms as well.

It can also be anxiety about a certain thing such as your health, relationships etc.

Anxiety is often thought of as a “future based disease” in that people tend to concern themselves over things that haven’t happened yet, things that might happen and avoid doing things because of exactly this.

Hypnotherapy can help you acclimatise yourself to the idea of confronting what you are anxious about without having to be in that situation.

I saw Chris for anxiety around public speaking and social anxiety which had begun to reach a crisis point in my life.
He used both an approach of hypnosis, grounding techniques, as well as frank discussion to challenge myself in a positive way.
All of these have now helped me to be more confident, test myself, and have a full set of tools to rely on and use when any anxious feelings arise.
My experience was not necessarily about him curing me, but more about him enabling me to cure myself and I thank Chris for this.
In short, I fully recommend Chris, he’s approachable, it felt a safe, welcoming environment and also gave some great straight talking.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy for Anxiety

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective and prescribed treatments available for anxiety.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) is CBT but used alongside Hypnotherapy which studies have proven to increase its success rate.

CBT examines the thoughts and behaviours surrounding anxiety.

Thoughts surrounding particular triggers can be examined, discussed, reframed and then replaced with better, more helpful thoughts.

Anxiety and stress happen because your brain has convinced you that whatever you’re anxious about is something that you need to be anxious about – that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is.

Hypnotherapy for Panic Attacks

Sometimes when anxiety really gets too much for us our body can have a panic attack or anxiety attack which can leave us shaken, debilitated and unable to do anything at all.

For some people the thought that a panic attack might happen is what causes the anxiety in the first place.

I can teach you coping mechanisms for this situations so that you can go into them in a much clearer and calmer frame of mind. With your mind full of much more helpful thoughts and being present in the moment.
